It’s the end of season and our final competition is here! Since our first practice in April we have been building up to this day! Let’s make it a great one.

Friday night we are looking for parents who want to help decorate the band room. We do this every year to help pump up the kids for Finals! Please bring whatever decor you want in our school colors (red, white, and blue).

Here is everything you’ll need to know for Saturday.

The day starts at 6am! We need parent volunteers to come early and start preparing our annual Finals Day Pancake Breakfast. Students will begin to eat at 7am. We’ll be serving pancakes, sausage, and orange juice to the band before getting started for the day.

After a brief last run practice we’ll start loading up at 9am. We head to Tropicana Field for warm ups at 11:44am. We perform at 12:54pm. Afterwards, students will change out of their uniforms and get ready for retreat. Retreat at semi finals includes not only the drum majors and band captains, but also four year seniors. Everyone will then be asked to clear the stadium.

Not to get ahead of ourselves, but if/when we move on to finals this is what you can expect…

Neither lunch nor dinner will be provided that day. You may bring food from home in small coolers or money to buy food there. We ask that even if you did drive to the competition that you do not take your children off the grounds in case any unforeseen delays prevent them from being present for our next performance. For those who are interested, we have a 4:00pm reservation at Ferg’s near the stadium. The cost is $12.00 per person which includes meal, tax, and tip.

Above is the menu. All orders and money must be in to Mrs Cortney by Thursday night (Nov 16) so that they can be sent over Friday morning.

We will not know what time we go on for finals until after the semi finals winners are announced. However, 3A bands begin at 6:34pm.

You will need to pay an additional entry fee for Finals. It is a separate event.
Finals t-shirts are available for purchase at the venue.

After we perform the students will undress and then they are free to watch as the other bands and exhibition bands perform. Everyone must be back and dressed for a full retreat at 11:00pm. We’ll head home right afterwards, but please be prepared to get back very late! Parents who drive over and want to bring their child home after must speak with Mr Dasher and the bus chaperone personally so that we are not looking for them on the buses. Also, if you do bring your child home, please meet us back at the school to help unload the truck one last time together as a team.

Donations Needed:
Chocolate chips

Volunteers Needed:
Bus Chaperones (parents who would like to avoid a parking fee at the event are welcome to ride the buses. We will have 3  so there is plenty of room)
Pit Assistance

Volunteer Sign up was passed around at the meeting. If you would like to volunteer come by the parent room.

Yes, marching season is over, but we have a few more events to add to your calendar so don’t go away just yet!

Dec 9th we will participate in the Brooksville Christmas Parade! This is a great way for the band to be involved with the community so we encourage as many band kids as possible to be present. Let’s show Hernando what an awesome band we are!
Dec 12th is our Christmas Concert (entry fee is $7.00 per person)
March 9-11th is our Universal Trip
May 19 is Band Banquet

More details on those events coming soon. There will be no booster meeting in December, but we will have them again on the 2nd Tuesday in January and February.

It’s been such a great season you guys and it would not have been possible without you! To the amazing kids who put their blood, sweat and tears into their performance, to the instructors who work tirelessly to help guide and lead them, and to the parents, who have donated so much of their time to this program. You helped build props, shuttle the band and equipment, worked so hard on the uniforms, donated food and drinks, and have shown your constant and unwavering support all season. You are what makes this program a success. There’s no doubt the kids steal the show, but none of this would be possible without everyone behind the scenes as well. Thank you everyone! Enjoy the break and get ready to do it all again next season!

For those of you not ready to see it all end, don’t forget to sign up for Winter Guard!
